Stacy Jansen is a New York (Lanapehoking) based Costume Designer who has been praised for her artistic and moving interpretations of character, crafted with a passion for ethnography and deep connection to the needs of the actor. She has recently designed costumes for acclaimed actors such as Morgan Freeman, Juliette Binoche, Sean Penn, Phoebe Dynevor and Peter Sarsgaard and has filmed in numerous locations around the world.
A recent notable work is Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire’s “Black Flies,” which will premiere at Cannes Film Festival 2023. To design the costumes for the film, Stacy combined research with improvization to design a range of core costumes which are both vigorously true-to-character and well-suited to the dynamic requirements of documentary-style filming. Another notable work of Stacy’s is Benh Zeitlin’s “Wendy,” which premiered at Sundance Film Festival in 2020. To realize the film’s fantastical medley of characters, Stacy led a team in creating timeworn costumes from scratch and delivering finished pieces to the myriad caves, cliffs, and ships of Zeitlin’s neverland.
For over a decade in the industry, Stacy has been recognized for her ability to succeed in both artistic and literal adventures, and expertise in imbuing costumes with life.
